The 2024 word of the year is “release”

It’s just not realistic or sustainable to be giving everything in your life your all.

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I love the New Year. I love fresh starts, I love goal setting, I love making plans for the future and leaving the ick behind. Last year, I gave myself 3 goals: Time, Intention, and Balance.

I wanted to make more time for myself, be intentional with my energy, and create more balance in my day-to-day.

I reread that post a few times as I was preparing to write this one, and I realized 2023 was a stepping stone year. With my brand new 2024 eyes, I can see now they these were both lofty and nebulous. I didn’t give myself any action items, just outcomes.

Even still, I did a pretty decent job getting started! I have gotten much better at making time for the things that I want to spend time on, and saying no a lot more often to things I don’t want to do. I write more, and I play more, and I sleep more. All things I’ve consistently struggled to find the space for in my life.

I’ve also level-set my priorities over the last year, creating a bit more balance between my career, my creativity, and my connections with others. So why do I still feel wound so tight and unfulfilled?
